  1. Background. This Year's Model was Elvis Costello's first album with The Attractions. Most of the songs had been performed live with them prior to the recording of the album. The recording at Eden Studios began at the end of and was completed in early The sessions took about eleven days. In liner notes for a reissue of the album, Costello cites the Rolling Stones Aftermath as a Genre: New wave, power pop, punk rock.

  3. Okay so I love the early years of Elvis Costello. I originally purchased this album in and have re-purchased it many time in tape, CD and now in MP3. This particular edition contain one of his best; I don't want to go to Chelsea. This song and Radio Radio recued me from High School and even College/5().

  5. Where My Aim Is True implied punk rock with its lyrics and stripped-down production, This Year's Model sounds like punk. Not that Elvis Costello's songwriting has changed -- This Year's Model is comprised largely of leftovers from My Aim Is True and songs written on the road. It's the music that changed. After releasing My Aim Is True, Costello assembled a backing band called the Attractions.
